With the latest update to WindowMaker I’ve started seeing this error:

Xlib:  extension "MIT-SHM" missing on display ":0.0".

Cygserver is up and running (with the default parameters) and still the
error persists.
Xlib:? extension "MIT-SHM" missing on display ":0.0".
install cygserver for SHM and IPC support.

is the server keyword in CYGWIN environment variable?

CYGWIN="server" XWin $OPTIONS

Check XWin.log for
MIT-SHM extension disabled due to lack of kernel support
XFree86-Bigfont extension local-client optimization disabled due to lack of shared memory support in the kernel
